Conference Venue
Okinawa Convention Center
SWIM 2027 will be held at the Okinawa Convention Center (OCC), Okinawa's largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) facility. The OCC combines four main functions in a single complex — an exhibition hall, a theatre, twelve conference rooms, and an indoor sports arena — and is fully equipped for smooth and professional international conference operations. It is located in the city of Ginowan on the western coast of Okinawa Main Island, and opens directly onto a marina, a beach, a seaside park and an outdoor theatre overlooking the East China Sea.
Address
4-3-1 Mashiki, Ginowan, Okinawa 901-2224, Japan
Setting
Directly adjacent to marina, beach, seaside park and outdoor theatre; marine-resort atmosphere within walking distance of the conference halls.

Conference Halls
SWIM 2027 plans to use the three Conference Halls A1, A2 and A3, which together provide a compact, well-connected layout for plenary sessions, parallel sessions, posters and networking.
Oral and poster sessions in Conference Hall A1 during the 2023 International Symposium in Okinawa — the same venue and layout planned for SWIM 2027.
| Hall | Capacity (theatre-style) | Planned use |
|---|---|---|
| Conference Hall A1 | up to 500 seats | Main plenary hall. Spacious, glass-walled venue opening onto the beach, with high-quality audiovisual and IT systems. Poster booths will be set up at the back of the hall, allowing smooth transitions between talks and poster discussions (as successfully done at the 2023 international symposium held at this venue). |
| Hall A2 | 105 seats | Parallel sessions and medium-sized workshops. |
| Hall A3 | 30 seats | Breakout sessions, committee meetings and small group discussions. |
An on-site restaurant and flexible catering spaces support coffee breaks, lunches and informal networking. The indoor sports arena within the OCC complex can additionally host evening events.
Welcome to Okinawa
The Okinawa Convention Center, seen from the entrance gardens.
Okinawa Prefecture comprises more than 150 subtropical islands at the south-western tip of the Japanese archipelago. Its unique Ryukyuan culture, warm climate, coral reefs and limestone aquifers make it an ideal setting for a meeting devoted to island and coastal groundwater. June temperatures typically range between 25 and 30 °C, with high humidity and occasional rain.
The conference venue is approximately 30 minutes by car from Naha city centre and Naha International Airport, and is surrounded by hotels, restaurants and coastal parks. Delegates will find Okinawa a safe, welcoming and deeply hospitable host.

An interactive map of the venue, hotels and transport links will be added closer to the conference date. For now, please refer to the Okinawa Convention Center's official website for directions.
